So you now know your FIRE number, but how do we climb the mountain to get there? Easy, peasy…this is going to be a short post…
Spend Less. Save and Invest More. Increase Income. Limit Lifestyle Inflation. 4% Rule with VTI/VTSAX.
And just like that with high mathematical certainty you can achieve financial independence and retire early.
Each post on this site will touch in some way or another on each of the 5 pillars above. Plus I’ll add a 6th as well, an alternative to the 4% rule to consider. However, before we leave this post I do want to speak to one thing.
Patience and Consistency
Realistically, there are more getting poor fast schemes than there are getting rich fast schemes 🙂 Don’t fall victim to taking shortcuts to long term wealth. Avoid influencers trying to sell you their courses, crypto bros promising instant riches, lottery tickets, fee based financial advisors, among so many other schemes that just take your money to get rich themselves.
Reaching FIRE takes time. Years upon years and even decades upon decades of time coupled with dedication, and consistency with investing. I want you to know that this is the hardest part of the formula and where most fall down – in the boring middle. Do what you will to stay focused on the long term goal, because it is just that – long term. I’ll try my best through this blog an other means to help keep you on track and focused on your journey. I know you can do it, let’s get it done.
As Always, Before You Go
A word from our sponsor…Wait, we still don’t have any sponsors so I’ll serve up another affiliate link. This time for a service that I personally use and recommend. A VPN! Not just any VPN though, one the most well known and trusted: NordVPN
I use NordVPN’s service to book cheaper travel, stream hockey games, obfuscate my location to protect my identity and data. It’s a fantastic well developed software solution that I have found highly reliable.
Here’s a link to the best VPN I’ve used:
